Field Day 03.09.2015 in PC “Druzhba”

11.09.2015

The company “TerraVita Ukraine” held one more Field Day with PC “Druzhba” in Semenovskiy district, Poltava region, – director S.V. Semigreenko. The purpose of this event was to summarize the preliminary results, a comparison of the biological productivity, humidity index and external appearance of maize. On demo-field the hybrids from many manufacturers were presented. Among all presented maize hybrids of FAO 280 the greatest attention was paid to the hybrid Austrian selection of «RWA» (Raiffeisen Ware Austria AG) Ballerina from the company “TerraVita Ukraine”.

The hybrid Ballerina FAO 280 has a high resistance to disease and lodging, excellent moisture-yielding ability, has a fast start of growing at low temperatures, and even under stressful conditions makes a stable yield.

Spreading of the rows of the seeds

Here are the following biological characteristics which distinguish the hybrid from the others:

– high pollen viability, which contributes to almost 100% pollination at high temperature;

– during grain filling in the upper part of head about 7-8 wrapping leaves open out;

– at drying of stalk the petals open almost completely;

– thin centrum of the cub during the drying down helps spreading of the rows of the seeds. It is one of the most factors for drying down of the seeds.

As a result, the control humidity measurements of hybrid Ballerina seeds obtained figures – 19,8-21%, while other FAO 280 hybrids showed humidity between 29-32%.

Humidity index 19,8%

Taking into account that the measurements were carried out on 3 September 2015, the harvest will not take place until October, so still there are 2 months left to achieve a minimum percentage difference from a base moisture content of 14%. It is known that the final drying is one of the most expensive parts of the completion of harvest, so the hybrids with the better moisture-yielding ability acquire strategic importance.

Analyzing the above mentioned, we can say that due to its features the hybrid corn Ballerina FAO 280 got the excellent estimate from farmers who were present at the Field Day.
