It has become a tradition that in late November the company “TerraVita” supplier of agriculture seeds, pesticides and fertilizers from leading European manufacturers, one of the most powerful and stable players in the agricultural market, held its annual international conference. And this year was no exception – fourteenth time “TerraVita” gathered friends and partners to sum up their work and in a circle of friends to celebrate their victories and achievements.
And there is something to be proud – despite all the problems of the present time, the general background of economic decline in the country the company continues to demonstrate confidence and ability to step in with the times, response rapidly to market requirements and once again confirms the stable development of the business. According to Karina Markarova, founder of the company, its charming leader, a true “little mistress of a big house”, “TerraVita” today, of course, is not a transnational billion corporation, indeed it is – a powerful international company with fully balanced portfolio of products that can meet the needs and requirements of farmers with different specialization in different countries and different agro-climatic zones. Plant protection products from all groups, unique growth regulators and complex fertilizers, high quality seeds of field crops – all at attractive prices and flexible financial policies currently available to farmers in Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Poland and Georgia.
In these countries “TerraVita” has more than 50 registrations of modern crop protection products (pesticides and agrochemicals), giving farmers the opportunity to provide comprehensive protection of major crops, vegetables, orchards and vineyards. A special fertilizer and growth regulator (CODA, CIBUS, Kelpak) have unique properties that increase yield and its quality.
The company offers products from such manufacturers such as FMC, “Fader Alliance”, “Globachem” Adob, “Kelp Products”, “Coda SAS” (it should be noted that “TerraVita” guarantees the quality of their products not just in words, because it makes state registration of products, thus providing a complete set of all required testing drugs on different cultures in different conditions. The pesticides and agrochemicals of “TerraVita” are 100% checked and are optimally suitable for use in regions where they are registered).
The company’s portfolio fills in completely including the optimal conditions for different regions of Ukraine seeds selection of famous Austrian manufacturer – the company RWA. By the way, today “TerraVita” – is one of the first companies that started broad-scale cultivation of parental lines of hybrids of corn in Ukraine (together with “UkrLandFarming” on area of 10 000 ha) – in this way, while maintaining all quality indicators, the seeds acclimatized to growing conditions and this is much cheaper.
This concerns particularly to the agricultural producers of the popular hybrid Ballerina (FAO 280), which in this dry year showed really fantastic results. Thus, in the Mykolayiv region, in conditions when there was no rain from planting to harvest, it showed a yield of 70 c/ha, and in Kherson region, where all other corn hybrids with similar FAO never formed the corncob (no yield) – 30 kg /ha! In terms of Cherkasy region (12 mm rainfall per season) Ballerina yield was 97 kg/ha. With a thin corncob the hybrid quickly gives the moisture: the second week of October in the regions of Central Ukraine (Cherkassy, Poltava and Vinnitsa region) humidity averaged from 14.8 to 17.5%. No one even more popular hybrid can reach such results! Ballerina is interesting and for cultivation of silage. Alexander Yerhov of FG “Russia”, Donetsk: “We have corn yield once in 6 years. And it has become a kind of rule. However, Ballerina – broke that rule. For several years in a mixture of sugar sorghum it shows a stable yield of 400 kg/ha (grain – 50 t/ha). For me, it is the best!» .
In general, “TerraVita” picked up very successful in terms of the yield and resistance to adverse conditions and diseases line of corn hybrids, including Hamlet, Leona, Saari Ankora, Novania, Amanita, Forteza and Zirikus with FAO from 220 to 360. This diversity allows them to grow in almost all regions of the country by different technological approaches.
There are other interesting crops breeding by RWA – winter wheat (Emerino, Eurofit), barley brewery (Antigon, Rusalka, Cerbinetta), sunflower (Sillouet and Simson), pea (Lessna) and soybeans (OAC Wallace and OAC Champion).
We should say more about soybeans. Traditionally, “TerraVita” conference usually are like meetings of a certain clubs (in our case – agrarian business), where, in spite of clear regulations, during the sessions take place flriendly, business communications. At this conference one of its members, a farmer from Poltava region Stanislav Lobach, told about his own year’s experience of growing soybeans of traditional breeding Silvia (new variety from “TerraVita”): “I grow soybeans for years, prefering Canadian and German varieties. This year, once I got 100 kg of other variety, and it decided to sow. For sowing I used my usual equipment for large areas, and at an affordable technology. Later I just forgot about this sowing … You know that heat prevailed this year, crops were not in the best condition (and yield too). But “stranger” crops, though they were “abandoned” by me, all in the weeds the soybeans well developed and to formed a sufficient amount of beans. The yield was about 30 kg/ha. So I collected enough seeds for next year to 6.8 hectares. So this is it, Sylvia!”.
In addition to new seed products, every year “TerraVita” brings to market new pesticides. In particular, the new soil herbicide Pandora 500, SC (S-metolachlor, 312.5 g/l + terbuthylazine, 187.5 g/l) against annual cereal and some dicotyledonous weeds in crops of sunflower and corn; Proxsanil 720, EC (propizochlor, 720 g/l) – selective herbicide against annual cereal and some dicotyledonous weeds in crops of sunflower, soybean, corn, canola; Samum Forte 374 SC universal desiccant with increased content of diquat (374 g/l); Taffin 320 SC (azoxystrobin, 200 g/l + cyproconazole 120 g/l) – systemic fungicide to protect cereals from leaves and ear diseases.

The conference, as always, was held in a friendly and business atmosphere, interesting and informative plenary part of the event (presentations about new products of partners from Belgium and Spain) gradually passed into an evening of entertainment (classical and modern pop and jazz music) where everybody could communicate and get positive emotions. All participants felt the aura of humane relations between business partners and gratitude for mutually fruitful work. And certainly in that goodwill and respect of business partners is one of the secrets of success of “TerraVita” which, despite difficult present, supply to farmers effective plant protection products, fertilizers and seeds from known and respected manufacturers, concerned about food safety of the country and helps people to survive the hard times. Appropriate to recall the welcome speech by Vladimir Topchiy, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Technology Policy in Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, stating that this year’s Ukrainian yield weighing 61 million tonnes has the share of “TerraVita” because through its products and the efforts it was possible. “TerraVita” – is interesting and useful to farmers, so it is waiting for further success. So, with “TerraVita” – to new heights!
